Just to say that I loved the way Gyorgy drived this one. I feel 7.n7 as being an error. 7.m13 would have threaded both n7 and q8. On the other hand those two guys are so better than I am that I fear just not understanding their thoughts...

This game is old enough that I wonder if either player knew about the Medcalf defense (|11.t20).

|5.j16 looks like the first mistake. |5.h15 would be a typical opening - at least something further to the left to provide a new potential path to the top. Then |7.n7 doesn't open up any new paths to the south - I'd expect something further to the right. Csaba didn't spread out. He probably thought |9.r16 10.q20 11.u19.

Yes. Medcalf defense. I haven't already the good reflexes...
I'm ok with 5.h15 in place of 5.j16.

About 7.n7 not opening any new path to the south... well, I don't feel it mandatory. Do you mean you would have played something around 7.r16 ? I would personnaly be afraid of letting black playing something like 8.o8 because I'd feel the north black path too strong.

To answer your question about 7th move: 7.n7 makes a safe connection to the top, but it doesn't help to come to the bottom. Either you play a classic move like 7.q8 or maybe even 7.r11 both moves improve the power to the bottom more than the original move. There is also the possibility of an attack on the other side, but I don't think it is good in this case... For example |7.l7 (with some moves later something like i8 or h9) which improves the power on the left side of the board, but there is already d3 and J16 too far right.
