I was pretty confused by 16.e7; I can't think of any advantage for that move compared to the alternative 16.g7. Is there some way to attack the latter from the left?

Beats me. I guess Gyorgy probably knew that Maciej could connect his main (white) group to the top, so he was probably just trying to trick Maciej into letting him form more (black) gauntlet on his o10 peg. How that was supposed to work, I don't know.

Another factor that might have been at play here was time. Gyorgy withdrew from two championship cycles because he was running out of vacation days. Maybe he was just making a forcing move to give him time to think about the battle on the bottom.

Alan you're right, my white gruop was already connected to the top. So 16.g7 could be like suicide to Gyorgy, becouse of my 17.e10 (at this moment i have 2 ways to connect top: n8 or e6 and e10 helps me to get bottom.
