a REAL comment:
|11.s15 12.r13 13.t12 14.s10 15.u9

is 16. v13 not a standard bust here? Maybe I am mistaken; probably the answer helps ME more than it helps yukiblue.

As Alan pointed out, |11.s15 12.r13 13.t12 14.s10 15.u9 then 16.t9 wins locally, and probably wins overall, for black. 16.v13 is not so good because of 17.s14, then if 18.r8 19.p10 20.o8 21.m8 22.m7 23.o9 24.q9 25.l6 26.o10 27.n11, or 22.n10 23.q8, or 20.p7 21.n9 is the same pattern closer to white's wall, or 20.n6 21.o8 22.p7 23.l7 24.k5 25.i6 26.h4 27.h5

But I have since changed my mind about the left side. After 16.t9 white has a strong attack (defense) with
17.d16 18.g12 19.d11 20.f10 21.e8 22.f15 23.b15 or see my earlier analysis. But because black is stronger on the top right at this point, maybe 18.i7 threatening white F13 or maybe N9 would save the day. If we back up, 13.d16 looks much better for white.

Thanks for the reply, David. I am not trying to 'better' Alan's bust here - just look at an alternative.

|11.s15 12.r13 13.t12 14.s10 15.u9 16. v13

17. s14 18. r8
is NOT a line of play that would have occurred to me. Neither did your 'bust' with 17. s14. I DO believe that I have observed players get through a chain of 3-1 setups using a move like 16. v13 , but perhaps this does not work here. The type of play that occurs to ME might go:

|11.s15 12.r13 13.t12 14.s10 15.u9 16.v13 17.s14 18.u11 19.q13 20.p9 21.p10 22.o7 23.q8 24.q6

and black is doing OK, but these moves are made at my level of play, which will certainly have holes.

That is a valid question, and I am glad you asked.

If we pay attention to the right side of the board only, |11.s15 12.r13 13.t12 14.s10 15.u9 16.v13 17.s14 18.u11 and now 19.p10 is better than Q13. For example 20.q15 21.r11 22.s19 23.u18 24.v18 25.s17

But since 16.t9 wins locally for black, in this line white is advised to play on the left side of the board instead with D16, and sooner rather than later.

Black does not get a draw after |11.s15 12.r13 13.t12 14.s10 15.u9 16.v13 17.s14 18.u11 19.p10 20.q15 21.r11 22.s19 23.u18 24.v18 25.s17 26.r17 27.w19 28.t16 29.u16 30.t14 because white can play 31.u15 threatening V17. Then after 32.w16 33.t17 white can connect at either V16 or U19.
