Thanks. I see what you mean. I am thinking about it... I see the first two continuations now. Re: the last one, how would black respond to |8.q199.p1710.o2011.n18 ?
As far as the local battle is concerned, your second line looks good for black. HOWEVER, when considering the entire board, I have to say I did not necessarily provide the best lines for either sides in these variations. For example white's best response to |8.q19 might be 9.L18 which threatens R17 or J11. I was just trying to show you that my Q15 was not a local win. Or white could have played J11 immediately in all of these lines.
okay, that gives me a lot to think about. do you know of any tutorials (other than the puzzle site) on high-level twixt? I don't know of any. thanks very much!

https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/949/twixt has tutorials in the forums section and in the files section.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TwixT has a sample game in the Talk tab.
http://twixt.wikifoundry.com/ has lots of stuff. And see this discussion: https://www.littlegolem.net/jsp/forum/topic2.jsp?forum=55&topic=294
Another was |8.q12 9.p13 10.p10 11.o9 12.s13 13.n11 14.m17
or |8.q19 9.p17 10.o20
Black had lots of choices here.

So for example |8.r15 9.s14 10.p16 11.r16 12.r20 13.q18 14.p20 15.k17 16.m17 17.j11 18.L6 and the battle continues elsewhere.
