From 19.t17 onward, I thought we were destined for a battle for that lower left hand corner. You're choice to 33i15 surprised me. I expected something that would cover that top reach to my left border, and I was very antsy about whether or not my next move was going to work or not.

Let's say the game had gone |33.e7 34.g16 instead. Did white have a winning option? I couldn't find one.

And, if white could beat black's |33.e7, does black have an alternative?

Hate that I can't edit. Can't stand it when I type "you're" when I mean "your." I do it all the time.

With 17.t12, I figured we were destined for a fight for that lower left hand corner. Was surprised by 33.i15 rather than a block as the top. Wasn't sure if my plan in the lower left corner was a winner or had a flaw.

Let's say the game had gone |33.e7 34.g16 instead. What's a winning move for white? I couldn't find one.

If there is one, then is the an option for black with move #34, or has white secured the win with the block at the top?

If there is one, then is there another option for black with move #34, or has white secured the win with the block at the top?

Well, that's embarrassing. Thought I'd figured out how to edit my post. Obviously not.

Yes my move 33 was horrendous. How about

|33.e7 34.g16 35.g17 36.h18 37.h19 38.e17 39.j15 40.j16 41.i17 or
if 40.j17 41.k17 42.k19 43.l19 or
if 38.i20 39.e16 40.g19 41.e20 or
if 36.e17 37.i16

It looks like I tossed the game on my last move. I don't see anything better for you in this line than G16.

My thought was...

|33.e7 34.g16 35.g17 36.i17

White's options to that scenario?

You're right! So let me change my mind:

|33.e7 34.g16 35.g15 and now
if 36.i17 37.f17 38.f21 39.f22 or
if 36.f18 37.i15 38.h16 39.g14 or
if 36.j16 37.g19 38.h19 39.e18

Uh I guess not, |33.e7 34.g16 35.g15 36.g17

SO how about

|33.e7 34.g16 35.d20 36.f18 37.c18 38.d16 39.d17 40.b17 41.f19 or
if 36.e17 37.i16 38.j16 39.h18 or
if 36.i17 37.d16

Here are some more d20 variations:

|33.e7 34.g16 35.d20 36.e18 37.g17 38.i15 39.e16 40.g19 41.d18 or
if 38.g19 39.i17 40.h15 41.e16 42.c17 43.i16 or
if 38.i17 39.e16 40.g19 41.d18

|33.e7 34.g16 35.e18 36.f18 37.g19 38.d17 39.i16 40.j16 41.h17 or
36.e15 37.i16 38.j16 39.g17

Though, I confess I didn't anticipate this sequence. I had planned for...
|33.e7 34.g16 35.e18 36.e20
...which I now see as flawed.

Hah! I'm having blind spots again.
|33.e7 34.g16 35.e18 36.f18 37.g19 38.d17 39.i16 40.j16 41.h17 42.i17

Maybe my losing move was 17.T12. Just |17.e7 before you play J20 looks like a win. I tripped myself up with all that stuff on the right side.

I thought mayby 17.t12 was a concession that black had a credible double threat to the left boundary, though I felt like there was hole in that L16 region that could be exploited, which I tried to cover with 18.j20 while still supporting the attack on the right.

I didn't keep any notes on what my contingency plan was had you played 17.e7 (or something similar) at that point, but I had anticipated it. One of the better analyst can probably say, but it does feel to me like that that was where an advantage shift took place. I played too slowly and had long gaps in play to really have an integrated strategy. I had to refresh my situational awareness each time I came back to the game up until the end game.

I never felt secure about that lower left hand corner, which is why I was delighted (obviously) to have you focused on stitching that up and forgetting about the upper left.

I'm not proud. I'll take it.
