Upon request: where did white make a mistake?

After the 12th move the game was already over, so it had to be somewhere before...

I don't comment deeply about the first 5 moves, it's an interesting opening. I'm not familiar with it and don't no the ideas behind the moves. What I think interesting is Klaus 2nd move. If I think I have to play my peg that near to the first move to neutralize it, I would probably swap. For white this means, that I would have tried to make use of that 'mistake' and dominate the center with my 3rd. The question is how this is done best... honestly I don't know, I personally would have preferred to play J10 there instead of L12.

7.k9 I would play this move more to the left to threaten to come left around L14, I9 maybe or make a solid link, with K10 or M10, this looks a little bit stronger to me.

9.m15 is probably the mistake. But there aren't that many playable moves, the left side is already lost I think. I would suggest to play something like |9.s14 that threatens to go right around P9 and if black is windmilling with 10.o7 you can maybe reactivate the left side of the board next move with something around i10 or maybe even let the first move join the battle with 11.d7 or f6.

11.n13 probably white has already lost here no matter what he plays. Otherwise I would suggest the same moves as I did at 9th move, but because the left side is already dead it's probably useless.

correction: 9th move the part with the left side activation is 1 move too early, first the middle has to be blocked, if black really plays |9.s14 10.o7 then white can maybe win next move with 11.m10. otherwise I would connect in the middle and activate the left side next move, if it is still working then...

As you already knows, I'm not an expert, but 5.q16 6.p9 7.k9 8.l18 9.n13 looks much better to me...
...but maybe Klaus wouldn't have played 8.l18 in such a case ?
